NW Scotland
River Balgy
Looking up the River Balgy towards the flanks of Beinn Dhamh. Not a cloud in sight!

Nature's Infinity Swimming Pool
A bit cold though I suspect. The view over Loch nan Eun on the top of Ben Shieldaig looking out over Loch Torridon to Skye in the distance. Some really characteristic northern summer light with somewhat uncharacteristic blue skies!
Torridon, NW Scotland.
A Previous Conquest
Looking over to Beinn Alligin which we walked a few days earlier. Taken from Liathach's Mullach An Rathain summit (1023m) just beofre starting our steep descent to the Torridon valley.

Am Fasarinen
Looking back towards Liathach's highest summit and the formidable (if you aren't a climber) Am Fasarinen ('The Teeth') pinnacles. We took the easier option of slightly lower but very exposed narrow path on the opposite side to this view.

Lunch On Top of the World
One of the best things about British mountains is that in general you can get to the top of them - although Liathach presents more of a challenge than some. We spent a very pleasant lunch break here at Spidean a Coire Leith (1055m) admiring this view of the Beinn Eighe mountain chain and the lower slopes of Liathach.
During the whole day in these fabulous conditions we encountered just one group of four other people. However our lunch break was spectacularly interrupted by a fast jet, flying from behind where we sitting, just 40m away from us below and to our left. The pilot proceeded to skim the top of Beinn Eighe before climbing for a huge loop. I think he was enjoying the mountains just as much as we were!

O Wonderful Shiny Mountain Day
The promise of a fine walk to come as we survey our route and the clearing cloud from Liathach's easternmost summit - Stuc A Choire Dhuibh Bhig (915m).

Can Sheep Swim?
Attractive vanishing fence with a view over Loch Shieldaig.

Scree Run and then Some
The quartzite boulders on the southern flanks of Beinn Eighe would make a fairly tough scree run I imagine. We chose the rather easier descent provided by Coire an Laoigh.

Looking North
The view North(ish) from near Ruadh Stac Mor (1010m), the highest summit of Beinn Eighe. The mountains in this part of Scotland just rise up from the surrounding peatlands and on a good day the coast is visible from the tops.
