Saharan Sands

Desert sand study at Waw an Namus, Libya. The sand here is unusual in that the pale sand has a covering of quite fine black rock - a result of the formation of this caldera. The effect can be seen quite clearly if you have Google Earth by following the link below (or Satellite view of the Yahoo map here on Flickr).
