Dominican Republic, The Humpback Whale in Samana Bay

Dominican Republic, The Humpback Whale in Samana Bay
The humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) is one of the larger whale species, with adults ranging in length from 12–16 m and weighing around 25–30 t. The humpback has a distinctive body shape, with long pectoral fins and a knobbly head.
Humpback whales enter the Caribbean in early winter to mate and give birth. And at the beginning of spring they go north to the shores of Greenland to places rich in food - krill and fish
