Denmark, The Church of Our Lady in Kalundborg

The Church of Our Lady is a fortified church in Kalundborg. This is one of the most unusual medieval churches in Northern Europe. With its five distinctive towers, the Church stands on a hill above the harbor, making it the most spectacular landmark of the city.
The exact date of the foundation of the Church is unknown, but it is assumed that it was built in 1170 - 1190 in honor of the conversion of the region to Christianity. This is one of the first brick structures in Denmark, at the same time with the Church a fortified castle was built.
