Panorama of Lukla Airport

Panorama of Lukla Airport
In January 2008 the airport was renamed in honor of Sherpa Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary, the first people to reach the summit of Mount Everest and also to mark their efforts in the construction of this airport.

Schussentäler, Ronald Losure, Bruno Suignard, and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

Did you actually fly from there? I guess flying in is more hazardous than flying out.

Yes, I was flying from Kathmandu to Lukla and back.
Flights are scheduled for a group of four aircrafts to occupy all four parking spaces at the airport. Aircrafts land one after another, unload, then quickly load and fly away also one after another.
And then next four aircrafts arrive to airport from Kathmandu.
Of course, the airport is often closed due to bad weather.
