Dipterous larva?

I have no idea what this is, perhaps some sort of Dipterous larva? It was tiny, about 1mm in length, this shot was taken at 5x magnification and is uncropped. They appeared to be feeding on the fungal growth on the underside of a piece of rotting wood in my garden. It kept the spherical shape even when it moved.
