Pithead

The pit winding gear at the "Big Pit", a mining museum at Blaenavon in south Wales. Though disused, it is possible for visitors to descend, via the winding gear illustrated, into the disused mine where a retired miner takes groups on a most interesting and moving tour of the mine.
