After a month the small plants are transplanted to other, more spacious and not so hot greenhouses.

Four months after the definitive planting the “smoke” operation is performed. This operation consists of burning vegetables inside the greenhouses in order to “intoxicate” the plants, forcing them to flourish all at the same time, thus controlling the production cycles.

Tea Factory and “Orange Pekoe” tea
|

|
in black, please
The factory was founded in the 1920s.
After the tea production process is completed, selection begins.
This selection results in three types of tea, depending on the quality of the leaves that gave rise to them.
The most perfect and strong tea is the so-called "Orange Pekoe", obtained only from the bud and the first leaf of the bud.
This denomination was a tribute to the Dutch princes of the House of Orange, the first on the European continent to market the tea.
The second term refers to the Chinese language meaning "young".
