The Castle of Tomar can be seen in the backdrop. This photo was taken at Republic Square. On the left, stands the statue of Dom Gualdim Pais, a templar knight (1118-1195), who founded Tomar in 1162.

The composer was born in this house in 1906 and died in 1994 near Cascais. In his youth he composed and played in piano the music he found more suitable to the films on local cinema (before the sound cinema). As opponent to the dictatorship, he was arrested and his music was prohibitted since the 1950's.
He managed to go to an exile in France, until the 1974 revolution.
This house is located at Dr. Joaquim Jacinto Street, Tomar.

This synagogue was built in the 15th century, but was disaffected from cult late in that century, when jews were persecuted by the inquisition. Now it's a museum of the Luso-jewish community.

Part of River Nabão stream was diverted to a canal near this plant, like a watermill, with the specific purpose of generating electric energy.

This tower could be illuminated by the energy generated in the plant, using the stream of River Nabão. It was an exciting event in those days.
