I hired this car for 2 days to discover the island of Porto Santo. Being a small island, with short distances (the only gas station is near the airport), I drove less than 100 km. This photo was taken in the parking of Porto Santo harbour.

At the parking of Castelo Peak, Porto Santo Island. On its way up there, this 1990 Volvo had to cross the town of Camacha, with some streets closed for works. The driver had to make detours and, on a sharp left turn into a narrow street, soft soil lowered under those wheels and the sidewalk corner strangled part of the exhaust pipe and the inner lining of the mudguard was loose, scratching the tyre. He was upset with those unexpected detours and damages. With the help of a gardener, he tried to widen the dented exhaust pipe and preventing friction of the inner lining of the mudguard on the tyre.

In the parking of Ponta da Calheta, south of Porto Santo Island. This tour includes a few interesting spots of the island. Renting a car for a couple of days will allow visiting other interesting parts of the island, which is not very large - 42 square kilometres.

From this beach of southern Porto Santo Island, the imposing Cal Islet outstands on the background. "Cal" means "Lime" and the name of this 178 metres high islet was issued from its limestone mines.
