EN-2 is the longest road in Portugal, connecting Chaves (north) to Faro (south) - 738 km. It is as iconic as Route 66, in the United States, and Ruta 40, in Argentina, both longer than EN-2.

This house at Manhufe was where the painter was born in 1887 and lived until the age of 18. After moving to France he only came there occasionally to see his family. Now it is private property (no longer of the painter's family) and all we can see is from outside the entrance line.

The painter's mother died in 1954, after carrying 36 years of grief for her son's death, being buried very near from him, at Mancelos cemetery.
