Emily Murphy 2
A famous feminist activist in Canada, Emily Murphy is remembered by this statue in a park that bears her name in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She, along with four other women, won the "Persons" case that recognized women as persons under the law. See PIPs for the plaque and other views of the statue.

A great woman. In America, after the 1930s Great Depression... Women received symbolic recognition under the New Deal (1933–43) but there was no effort to deal with their special needs. In relief programs, they were eligible for jobs only if they were the breadwinner in the family. Amazing!
