HS Panther (D67) in Malta

HS Panther D67 at anchor in the Grand Harbour of Malta, 1978. Old photograph in my collection. Panther, formerly USS Thomas Garfield, was a Cannon class Destroyer Escort built in 1944. Served in the US Navy until 1951 when she was transferred to the Royal Hellenic Navy. She was decommissioned in 1992.
This visit to Malta most likely took place for the benefit of the cadet officers (=midshipmen) of the Hellenic Naval Academy.
