GREECE: EUROPA postage stamp set 2020. The two stamps show Greek paddle steamer "Prince Maximilian" ("Μαξιμιλιανός") and Austrian Lloyd paddle steamer "Arciduca Lodovico", which were used for the mail service.
The Prince Maximilian was commissioned in the Royal Hellenic Navy and served Piraeus and Cyclades Islands (1837-1840) while the "Arciduca Lodovico" was contracted for international mail.
A brief history of the "Prince Maximilian" (formerly corvette "PSARA") is included in "Hellenic Warships 1829-2001" by C. Paizis-Paradellis (2002), pages 119-120 and 153.
