Thanks Bill. All the stained glass in the Chapel is modern - 19th, 20th Century, but it is a wonderful addition.

Thanks, Laura. I get a sense that chapels, churches and cathedrals are taking on a new energy, more to do with a sense of community and aspiration than the revival of organised religion. I am drawn to their new life. Rosslyn Chapel, for example, revived by its association with the Da Vinci Code has become a thriving, really well organised, money-making machine. Each pilgrim has a chance to experience its rich history and symbolism. The new Visitor Centre is excellent: the coffee, the cake and the Gift Shop are bold and unapologetically part of the energy. The people who work there are full of enthusiasm. And there’s history, art and mystery as you walk into the Chapel. What’s not to love?

Incidentally, I completely agree with the No Photographs request: the sense of engagement, unmediated by the fumbling business of getting pictures, among the visitors was palpable.

I agree that a sense of community is a great thing - and why not use existing beautiful buildings to help keep that going?

And yes, we do need to sometimes put down our technology and just be.

Nice shot - and yes, after reading DaVinci Code I longed to see the Crypt of the Rosslyn Chapel.
