Apparently depicting the part of the saga where the gods grew tired of Loki's insults and disruptions, so bound him under a magical serpent that dripped poison in his face. His wife held a bowl under the poison to keep it away, but when she had to empty the bowl the poison made Loki writhe, causing earthquakes and volcanism.
