triumph of the will
I'm feeling like crap today, edna. call my doctor.
I can't, stanley. he doesn't take our insurance.
whaddya mean he doesn't take it?
he says it doesn't pay him enough.
so he won't take it? so now what do I do? I'm sick.
you'll have to just live with it, stanley.
well what good is this health insurance then?
it's comforting, stanley. don't you see?
yeah, until I need it, right?
exactly dear. that's all you're paying for: the illusion that your health care will be paid for.
that makes me feel so much better, edna.
I'm glad something does, dear.

Volcán Parinacota
Parinacota (6336m) is the southermost peak of the Nevados de Payachatas range. It is here seen from Lago Chungarà, one of the world's highest lakes at 4517m. In the foreground are the typical Altiplano wetlands ("bofedales").

Skywalking
I was "brought up" on black & white photography and still almost automatically consider processing all my images as monochromes though very few actually end up in black & white. This shot is an exception in that I envisaged it in B&W when I took it. I was shooting the boardwalk when this lady, who was walking along the skyline, turned onto the boardwalk and, in what passes for my brain, the final image snapped into focus.
I wish all my photography could be that easy!
