"the mondane"? I'm not sure what that means in relation to the photograph.
I LOVE the image you've found and made. Perfectly framed, detailed...and then the mysterious presence of the Stars and Stripes draping the entrance. What is it? I guess it's some sort of patriotic statement...maybe "when you enter this house you enter American ground" ...rather like entering an embassy, yet it looks like such an ordinary house.

Intriguing and wonderful, the kind of photograph that sticks in the mind. Thank you.

Well for me it isn't a vivid sunset or a brightly colored butterfly, nor is it a stop action of a sports moment. It's simply a house and a flag. Nothing uncommon. Something that most folks walk past everyday pretty much without notice.
