Date: Posted June 8, 1913 Publisher / Photographer: Gibson Photo - Winnipeg. Card was sent to Mrs. J. Michell, Salvation Army Hdqts, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Sadly, most of the message has been damaged, but the last piece of it reads; "It must... to hear Capt. McGrath... that string of pearls. That was an unexpected treat, wasn't it? I heard the dear gentleman that lives downstairs in the block singing that very verse when I was drying dishes the other night. From your own little 17 yr. old girl B."

This is the reverse of WP1973 by L.J. De Nobele. It was apparently used as an advertising card by a company in Belgium where, it is believed, De Nobele had his cards printed. This one could be mailed out to customers - as the address side is blank. I have another De Noble card where the entire back was imprinted with some sort of advertising for the "Sabot D'Or" store in Belgium. It may have been used as a handbill since it could not be addressed/posted.

This is apparently part of a set produced by an unidentified publisher/photographer. I also have #3 in the set which is the full front of the CP station. I also have #s 7,10, 11 &12 which are all of Banff and nearby mountains. #10 & 11 are virtually identical so I suspect this set was not produced for commercial purposes. The carriage on the right reads" IMPERIAL HOTEL" and "MCLEOD & MORTON". McLeod and Morton were the Proprietors of the Imperial Hotel at the corner of Main Street and Alexander. With rates of $2.00 per day, they advertised "Free bus to and from all trains" (from April 22, 1911 edition of the Winnipeg Tribune). The back end of the wagon on the right reads; "CANADIAN BAGGAGE, TRANSFER & EXPRESS CO."
