KN0340 KENORA - THE FALLS
|
|
Posted on May 21, 1907, this "Real Photo" postcard has an undivided back.
The message reads; "Falls at Kenora, Ont. now done away with & used as a power Station."
Given the dates, this predates Kenora's current Norman Dam on the West Branch outlet of the Lake of the Woods and refers to the old Kenora Power House that was on the East Branch outlet.
No photographer or publisher is identified.

Reverse of the Kenora Bird's Eye View image. Shows the advantage of these folding cards. Not taken advantage of in this example, the additional panels of folding cards provided a lot more writing space.

POSTCARD
Date: Not evident, unposted.

An earlier black & white version of this image was published with Valentine numbering 102,677 - also with no Valentine reference, attributed only to the Photographer.
(Valentine & Sons apparently had no Kenora postcards published in their own name, but published several for this drug store, each with a unique Valentine number.)

POSTCARD
Date: Not evident. Not Posted.
Publisher / Photographer: H. A. Longley

Eastwood Island, however, variously reported as being located on the Winisk River or Winisk Lake, has some prominence. It is located at quite a distance from the town of Kenora, but is within the (very large) district of Kenora.
