So, there are few pictures viewed on personal news feed but not on actual Explore.
I personally have no idea what causes this, but odd it is indeed. Rob Stamp is on vacation on right now, but I will let him know about this, and maybe he knows why.

It is simply not seen as important as is for example to gather enough money for reprogramming to get all pages secured (https). In my opinion the only thing that may explain the change on Explore within few months, as you report, is the synchronization between servers. So, the preview on news feed maybe comes from one server, and the actual Explore view from another server. Then maybe there is some delay between server synchronization. Moreover, one should keep in mind also the possible proxy servers in between Amazon servers and client side. One page that you view may come from some proxy server, and the other view is more recent version and coming from another proxy.
2) What comes to an issue whether this looks "externally" bad is this: Someone who has no ipernity account does not get to see the version shown on personal news feed. And someone who do have ipernity account, is not external. In other words all problems concerning the news feed are internal, in my opinion.
3) Because I have some background on social science research, I would ask for more evidence on how serious this issue is. Someone who has time and interest could arrange an online questionnaire to find quantitative and qualitative evidence on several issues concerning ipernity service quality. So, not only ask this one issue, but all kinds of things like respond time on 'Help & Contact', current state of Explore update time, quality of FAQ, level of ima board commitment etc.
If there is no money available for this, then IMA has to adjust the contributions accordingly in order to keep the platform alive.
You know for sure what I'm thinking about right now... :-((
4) Because the public and therefore also external Explore goes through human filtering by ima team, it could explain why some images shown on news feed are not shown on public Explore. In other words one sees unfiltered Explore on news feed, but some images are not allowed to become shown on public (external) display.
However, you have manage to get me interested to figure this out. So, you can expect more details on this once I get some insight from others.

That shot did not seem to be there on your screen capture for actual Explore at first. But it has now appeared there.
©UdoSm club has replied to Sami Serola (inactiv… clubIt also surprises me that such a thing was necessary and was not recognized by IMA itself.
I expect your positive message...
©UdoSm club has replied to Sami Serola (inactiv… clubSami Serola (inactiv… club has replied to ©UdoSm clubI thinks I now figured out what is the reason of difference between those two views on Explore.
As I tried to explain, our ipernity moderator(s) do moderate Explore images at least once per 24 hours. The reason for this is that we need to keep Explore as family friendly, and filter out obvious copyright infringements and SPAM.
Now the "Explore news feed view" what you wonder about, is most likely a representation of unfiltered (not yet moderated) overview of 18 most popular images based on real time rank.
So, if some photos get very popular within the following hours after the last moderation, then one may see there images that are waiting for the next moderation.
Again an example. This photo was not yet on actual Explore yesterday evening:
www.ipernity.com/doc/292913/49124450
That is because it was published and became popular after the previous moderation was done. This morning it is number one also on public Explore, once it was gone through the daily moderation this morning (accepted to become shown on pages that also non-subscribers can see):

If I failed to make you to understand this, then so be it. Also my patience has limits. But as promised, I will ask Rob to verify this as soon as possible, if he has time for it from more urgent issues.
P.S. Bernhard already verified that Explore algorithm has not changed at all since ima takeover. And only thing that significantly changed after ima takeover is that ima team started to moderate Explore also on Sundays. Earlier ipernity team was not doing that.
