Ottheinrichsbau is one of the earliest and most beautiful Renaissance palaces in Germany. Partly destroyed by the French in 1693 the roof was completely destroyed by lightning stroke on 1764. Since 1534 (after reformation) the altar room behind the gothic rod screen houses the tombs of 14 members of the house of Württemberg, among them Eberhard the Bearded. The choir pews were moved into the nave.
