Corpus Clock
SC 109: Circles

Corpus Clock was designed by John C. Taylor and officially unveiled in 2008 by Stephen Hawking. The clock face is 1,5m in diameter, made of 24 carat gold plated stainless steel. The grasshopper/ chronophage (time eater) on top is its most distinctive feature.

What an interesting clock. I gather that blue the LEDs that shine behind the slits in the clock's face tell the time in some way, and I can see two blue slits in your photo. In the link there is an super video of the grasshopper. Many thanks for the info, Gudrun.

Thanks a lot, Amelia! Yes, the blue is supposed to show the time. That clock sits at the street corner in a big ground floor window, there are always lots of people in front.
On the other side of the road is Christ Church College- at the time of our visit with the tents of a peace camp and many Palestinean flags...
