Guillemot

The island of Hornøya, just off Vardø, is a sanctuary for 80.000 seabrds. The waters around the island were full of guillemots and the puffins had also arrived. Both are rather clumsy and need several attempts taking off from the water (see inset photos).

Die Vogelinsel Hornøya liegt vor Vardø und ist Heimat für 80.000 Seevögel. Das Meer um die Insel herum war voller Trottellummen und auch die Papageientaucher waren schon da. Beide sind keine besonderen Flugkünstler und brauchen oft mehrere Startversuche, um aus dem Wasser zu kommen (s. PiPs)
