Herzlichen Dank, Udo! Durchaus nicht immer, nur wenn kein Wind weht... Wir hatten 10 Tage lang praktisch kein Lüftchen, dann bewegt sich auch der Nebel kaum.

Ich gehe mal davon aus, dass man dann was wie Esta (Visa waiver) ausfüllen und auch bezahlen muss. Die Kontrollen sind jetzt schon scharf.

Many thanks, Andy! Yes, that's exactly what was in my mind. I simply cannot understand why so many seem to have this death wish...
Couldn't you apply for Spanish citizenship or do you have to give up your British passport then? In Germany Brits can keep both passports if they get German citizenship before day X.
