Solitary tree at Borg, Vestvågøya. At this site the largest ever found Viking building was excavated in 1983, a 83m long chieftain's long-house which was built around 500 A.D. and abandoned ca. 950 A.D. It is thought the chieftain and his family sailed to Iceland when king Olav Tryggvason forcibly christianised the Lofot Islands. Near the excavation site a reconstructed long-house now houses the Lofotr Viking museum.

In Borg auf der Lofoteninsel Vestvågøya wurde 1983 das größte je gefundene Wikingerhaus ausgegraben, ein 83m langes Häuptlings- Langhaus, das von ca. 500 n.Chr. stammt und um 950 n.Chr. wieder aufgegeben wurde. Man nimmt an, dass der Häuptling und seine Sippe nach Island auswanderten, als König Olav Tryggvason die Lofoten gewaltsam christianisierte.
Neben der Ausgrabungsstätte wurde das Langhaus nachgebaut, das jetzt das Lofotr Viking Museum beherbergt.
