Vielen Dank! Ach, der Ngauruhoe hat im 20.Jh zig Ausbrüche gehabt, alle relativ harmlos...Der wird bestens überwacht und notfalls wird evakuiert.

Ich träum ja immer davon, sowas mal live aus sicherer Entfernung zu sehen...
Als ich 96 daass erste Mal in NZ war, hatten sie in der Lodge ein Video vom Ruapehu-Ausbruch, quasi aus erster Reihe aufgenommen:-)

Wow, you went up! It's steep and all that loose scoria makes you go one step up and half a step down again;-) I can easily imagine you got down quickly- dig your heels in and off you go:-)
I only did the crossing in 96, no time or inclination for a side trip- we were in the clouds from South crater until (nearly) Ketetahi!

Gudrun page 4 bottom left shot i am being held by two mates as i hang over looking into the crater at the top. Did you get to red crater and blue lake one trip we came up and stayed at the Ketethi hut enjoyed the hot springs. shame you had cloud stunning landscape up there slide and only 50mm F1.8 lens. younger days. Steve

We got to red crater- we could just about see the path but the smell was unmistakable;-) We saw Emerald Lakes only when we were a few meters away from them, therefore left out Blue Lake. The access to the springs was closed, the Maori didn't want all the tourists there.

ich merke mit jedem Foto, wie urlaubsreif ich eigentlich bin. War heute 13 Stunden nur auf Achse in NRW, bin erst eine halbe Stunde heime.

Tausend Dank, Iris! In der Ecke gibt es nicht viel sonst- dieses Hotel, noch ein anderes (eher eine Lodge auch mit Backpacker- Unterkunft) und einen Campingplatz.... Aber egal wo, man will nur raus, die Wanderwege gehen direkt von dort los:-)
