Laguna Verde is situated at 4300m in Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve, SW Bolivia, just north of the border with Chile. Its green colour comes from mineral suspensions, among them arsenic. Flamingoes are never seen there, only in neighbouring Laguna Blanca. Because of its high mineral content Laguna Verde never freezes over, even in temperatures as low as -56°C.

Danke, Uwe! Die Luft ist sehr dünn, einfach schnell mal dort hochfahren bekommt den meisten nicht so sehr;-) Und extrem kalt ist es in der Ecke auch.

Vielen Dank, Iris! Der blaue Himmel und der Sonnenschein täuschen, der Wind war sehr kalt! Unser Fahrer hat erzählt, dass ihm da mal der Motor eingefroren ist, weil einer der Touris beim Fotografieren rumgetrödelt hat... So kalt war's bei uns nicht;-)
