Jökulsárlón, fed by Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, is famous for its floatings icebergs. It is increasing in size because of glacier melt- at ca.18 km² it is now 4 times larger than in 1970.

Ich habe mal gehört, dass diese klaren, uns Grün gehenden Eisschichten sehr alt, sehr tief gelegen haben und deshalb sehr verdichtet sind. Insofern macht es einen schon nachdenklich, wenn sie zutage treten. Vielleicht ist ja auch meine Info falsch. Auf jeden Fall ist Dein Bild einmalig schön!

Das habe ich auch gehört. Es sind auch die Schichten, die unter Wasser liegen und dadurch abgeschliffen werden. Im Lago Argentino habe ich mal einen Eisberg gesehen, der sich komplett gedreht hatte und mit der Unterseite nach oben schwamm, der sah auch so aus!

Nachdenklich kann es schon machen, dass auch der Vatnajökull schmilzt. Als das letzte Mal die Eisdecke abgeschmolzen ist, kam danach eine vulkanisch hochaktive Phase....
