Derby: former Midland Railway offices 2012-12-10

Seen from the station platform (i.e. from W). The two wings embrace the locomotive roundhouse on its west side. List description, list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1228934, says that the tower dates from c.1850 and was originally free standing; by 1883, according to OS maps, it was connected to the station by a footbridge which presumably accounts for the girder inserted in the arch, and the panel above it. The weather vane is in the form of Stephenson's Rocket - this can just be made out if the photo is viewed full size.
