I went just a quarter mile or so past Susie to get out of the gusty winds that were ripping all the lakes this day. My goal was to get to Gilbert Lake and summit Tallac the next day, but just didn't have it in the tank with my one night permit. This would have been better as a two nighter, as we did on the other side.
