Lytham windmill.
Another shot with the sails blown off! In the past the Fylde area had up to 27 windmills, they were used for grinding wheat and draining the flat Fylde countryside....today about 16 remain - sometimes as residential dwellings. Even Blackpool has one next to a big Tesco!

Wheat meal from Lytham Mill.
Inside the windmill - a flour bag from quintessential Lancashire grocer E.H.Booth - milling stopped in 1921 yet Booths survives - 2 of the branches on the bag still exist including the Lytham store! www.booths.co.uk

Lytham Hall. On the Fylde.
A handsome Georgian house and home to the influential and ultimately tragic Clifton family - Henry de Vere Clifton the last Squire of Lytham had mental health issues and was addicted to gambling - the estate had to be sold to pay debts - everything was for sale! Today, Lytham Hall has been restored and it's grandeur has returned.
