Luggage

Trends in luggage change. This is from an age when people didn't lock their doors except when going to bed, so it is probably safe to assume they didn't lock their suitcases either. Those locks wouldn't have resisted a break-in for long, and there wouldn't have been much inside anyway - a bit like houses of the same period. This is luggage for when nobody had much to carry, because nobody had much anyway.

Luggage in Advance

This label dates from the late 1960s when British Rail provided a service to collect your luggage ahead of your journey and deliver it to your house shortly after you had arrived. The service cost a little extra on your fare, yet it was cheap at the price. Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro + AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 G DX lens.

Trolley on Platform at Cranmore

There is more on the left but I cropped it because of over-exposure. What remains was under-exposed; I lightened it. The colour and tone were askew too. I fiddled with them in post-production. I should have taken a reading to get accurate white balance. I should also have used a strong neutral density graduated filter over the bright area to the left. It's all elementary, so why do I keep failing?

Authenticity

Some of the heritage steam railways add authenticity to define their period, or more generally simply the age of steam. For some railways this is an exhibition which changes frequently. So if you like it, take a picture while you can. Tokina 50-135mm f/2.8 on a Fuji S3 Pro.
