The Nikon D2Xs, once the flagship of the Nikon range, has not become a poor camera simply because later models eclipse its ability. If it used to be good enough for professional photographers, it is a happy experience for amateurs working on their coat tails.

After harvesting cereal the dry stalks of straw are baled. The most common type of baling machine in industrialised countries today is the round baler. The machines wrap netting or twine around the bales to make them keep their shape. Being round, they will of course roll away and transporting them presents safety challenges. People have been killed by bales falling on them, or on their vehicles when following a load.
Straw has many uses. Often it is used for livestock bedding and fodder. Cattle and horses will eat straw but other feed is desirable to keep their health and strength up such as hay, which is dried grass, and much more nutritious than straw.
Photographed with a Nikon D2Xs at ISO 100, and a Tokina 50-135mm f/2.8 lens.
Nikon D2Xs and 50mm f/1.4 AF-D lens. Full frame equivalent therefore 75mm. 400 ISO; 1/60th; f/5.6. Converted to B&W in Lightroom.
There isn't a built-in flash on the D2Xs. That didn't bother me when I bought it secondhand in 2011 - I don't like artificially illuminated pictures and I lack the patience to learn how all that kit works anyway. But here I used a Nikon SB-400 flash for a bit of help. There's no learning curve with the SB-400. It apparently knows exactly what is required. Maybe I'll use it more often.
Nikon D2Xs. The camera dates from c. 2005 or 2006; I bought it secondhand in 2011. Over 13 years I've enjoyed using it despite newer more capable instruments having been acquired at intervals, and disposed of later (although I missed the D700 and bought another one when they became cheap enough). I can't speak too highly of the D2Xs. It doesn't perform very well at high ISOs but that particular shortcoming was shared with film-era cameras, and we managed OK then. In everyday use it is really easy to operate.
I don't know if this stranger would agree with me, but I think one of the great advantages of denim jeans is that things you stow in their pockets usually stay put. If you don't mind losing your keys and money, ordinary trousers are the way to go.
Nikon D2Xs. Lightroom. A lot of Lightroom.
Listen for the rustling in the undergrowth and the cry of a fox. Are you ready for when a cloud comes between you and the moonlight?
