The Limbo Connection club has replied to Graham Hughes clubwant to explain to me what an extension tube does for you? i've never really understood them.
The Limbo Connection club has replied to raingirl clubAs for the humble extension tube: it comes in handy when the thing you want to photograph doesn't fill the viewfinder - because you are already at the closest focus which the lens is possible of giving. So to get the subject bigger, you take off the lens and put the extension tube on the camera between it and the lens. The camera is 'tricked' into providing a bigger image from the same standpoint. Of course, the tube must have the same mount as the lens: everything must be compatible. And there are a few other limitations, but essentially it's as simple as ABC.
