Not a word was exchanged. I don't know whether her gaze was intentional but the result is a street portrait which I've never bettered.

Nikon D2Xs + Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f2.8 lens. Used here at 27mm (equivalent to the field of view provided by a full frame camera with its lens set at 40mm). Aperture f/6.7; shutter 1/180th; 200 ISO.

“Unfazed” was the first word that occurred to me looking at this portrait. Part of what adds to this being such an effective shot, I think, is the way her face is isolated/ picked out between stall, awning, pavement, sky, street, crowd.
