Early 1970s. Advertising campaign for Cossack vodka mimicking the work of Roy Lichtenstein (who himself appropriated style and ideas from DC comics, but nothing much is original, and this is no criticism of Roy).

Its colours and sharpness all seem to suit this on-line medium very well. It makes a very striking Pop Art image.

Further research has reminded me that it was a campaign to get us all drinking Cossack vodka. It might also be referencing Carole King's 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?' All that uncertainty, all that doubt, all that betrayal. Or maybe not ...

It worked pretty well then...
On TV before Christmas I watched some clips of Carol King and James Taylor. Beautiful songs accompanied by just piano or guitar...Where has all that gone?

The good news is, all those classic melodies are safely in the bank, and can be accessed anytime on youtube. As for the Cossack advertising campaign, I've been reflecting that a skinful of vodka is unlikely to help a person make the right choice of whom to sleep with.
