Iain is so very right, of course – even though one excuse for our self-indulgence and laziness might be the fact that they are not entirely self-inflicted but rather side effects of this happy-happy-joy-joy state towards which we are herded.

In benefitting nature, the smallest irreducible size is an interesting issue. Would it be, say, a forest, a single tree in that forest, or a single leaf in that tree? :-)

I miss Iain. I miss the fact that he'll never write another spiffing Sci-Fi novel ever again. Oh, well, with my crappy memory, I can always re-read him. Nearly as good.

As to the intricacies of leaf or tree... I'm with the anteater of the previous pic. What do I know? I'm only an anteater, for pity's sake! Although, if pushed, I'd say a leaf is taking the reduction a bit towards the absurd.

Holy baloney, I just read that Mr. Banks is no longer with us! Oh dear, oh dear. Whoever named comet 5099 after him clearly has not read Bernays' Propaganda: now everyone wants Mr. Banks to stay as far as possible! Perhaps even libraries stop to accept him. Why didn't they name it Jesus instead? Because if Jesus hit us, it would be his second coming to many and as such eagerly waited. (Me nasty? No, no, no...!)

Our Mr Banks will always be with us. Amen.;-)
As to the second coming...we don't need no loose asteroid or errant comet. We already have the Cristian Zionists doing their damned best to hasten Armaggedon, innit? :-)
