Slow Worm

Slow Worm
The first time I have seen a slow worm too. It was in my back garden under some old carpet the previous owners had dumped.

Goodness, I've never seen one of those before, or any sort of snake over here. I'm envious! :o)

Sorry to hear about the previous owners dumping. We've moved into a couple of homes before now that had some 'hidden extras', resulting in us having to hire a skip.

I found an injured slowworm a few years ago. After consulting with our vet, I put it in an improvised vivarium for a few days. The day before I was intending to release it - there were some extra inhabitants. Back to the vet for more advice ... and a new release date. Before that arrived, I had to urgently visit my elderly father as it turned out, he needed some hospital treatment. As that was a few days away, I asked a friend in to do some feeding etc - we also had some gerbils ... when I got back, my poor Speedy was dying and the gerbils hadn't been fed ... so-called friend hadn't bothered to visit.
