To everything its time.

Two forms of chalcedony; the top rock is mammillated chalcedony I found on a building site in Aylesbury in the UK. The white patina on the core is intriguing as it changes colour with the weather. When it is humid it becomes bluer, but it is white when the weather is dry. I have not been able to learn the chemistry behind this. The lower stone is banded agate, which is also a kind of chalcedony and which I bought in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

We had a power cut recently which proved an ideal opportunity to play around with candle light.

A monkey of sorts. My old (13 year) camera finally bit the dust a few months ago so I bought a new one a few days ago and having been playing with the buttons to get a feel for it.

Handshake and longevity: a couple of things we could all use these days.

Pokeweed berries and an apple. The pokeweed turned up by itself in the garden. It's the first time we have had it. The berries are attractive but toxic to humans

Old pic. I was playing with settings on the phone camera, using the 'document' function to take regular photos. Mostly it didn't work, the program, which recognizes the hard edges of documents and reprocess the images to include only what is inside these edges, got very confused. But I liked the way this one turned out. It took the long vertical lines of the sides of shelving, and interpreted them as a very long, narrow document.
