Stay at Home !! The village lock up at Ticknall it was built in 1809 having a relatively short life it closed around 1850, these lock ups were used to detain prisoners overnight those arrested for being drunk and disorderly were usually released in the morning, while those accused of a more serious crime taken to the nearest court.
This one is unusual in having a fire place ( hole in the roof for the smoke ) it was also used by the local Watch which probably explains this luxury.
Sometimes vagrants would be put in them so they didn't have to spend the night in the open.
It's rumoured that a local landlady had a key that fitted so there were some early releases
