Birmingham Moor Street the railings don't serve any purpose they end the other side of the shrubs !! the lines on the right are through ones those on the left terminate there.. In 1967 it was axed by the infamous Dr Beeching the through lines reopened in 1978 it wasn't until 2002 that the terminal side was rebuilt and brought back into use, it was done to look like a 1930s station.
Dr Beeching was an idiot who managed the persuade the government of the day to axe a vast amount of the UK rail network so we now have a public transport system that is struggling to cope with the number of passengers

Interesting.
I have seen a few fences on stations which only seem to separate the local services from the high speed services passing on adjacent platforms. Crowd control maybe?
