{OK} MWM - Murton War Memorials

Murton Heritage Society have commissioned Stanegate Restorations to refurbish two War Memorials - from the Victoria Workmens Club and The Murton Mining Federation - which will then be displayed in The Glebe Centre, Murton.

The first group of images are for the Victoria Club Memorial. This was completely dis-assembled and thoroughly cleaned of multiple layers of shellac, varnish and nicotine stains, before being refinished. It was then rebuilt. During this process a small brass plaque was found, proclaiming the original builders were the CWS.

The second group of images are for the Mining Federations Scrolls. These had been re-mounted and framed very unsympathetically. We are to carry out a more sympathetic, but similar exercise.
