{OK} VVM *CLOSED* Vintage Vehicles Museum, Shildon

This collection has been sold... ...and the museum closed.

IF you haven't been here before - get planning your visit - CLOSING AT END OF OCTOBER 2012. Michael's Ill-health has brought this forward... ...museum now closed, at the beginning of September. As I understand the situation, the collection is being dispersed as some items are sold, and others returned to their owners.

A very interesting collection of historic waggons, fire engines and other vehicles (one of which is the steam roller - A&P 3315 - for which Stanegate Restorations supplied the awning / canopy).
It consists, in the main, of representative examples of the various lorries owned and operated by "Bowman's" a haulage contractor initially based in Corbridge, but later at Shildon. One image is of a steam turbine, seen at the Steam Rally on 14/15 July 2012 in the Vintage Vehicles Museum at Shildon.
The museum currently (2012) has a placement trainee under the EHSI scheme. The only income normally received is from the £2 admission charged to visitors.....
Additional Illustrations will be uploaded shortly (there is an event on 14/15th July 2012 at which the official camera will be in action - Done!).
Although I have uploaded some images, there are others to capture, and I need to confirm various details about the exhibits... ...the captions will be updated once that has been done.
Please visit.. ...the outside gate is locked for security, but if the building door is open then pull up by the gate, and by the wonder of cctv ...
