{W!P} STR - South Tynedale Railway

When the South Tynedale Railway were working on their signalbox at Alston, they discovered that the finials were more than a little worse for wear. Ian turned a couple of replicas, out of a suitable hardwood (I need to confirm the actual timber), for them.

The line was extended to Slaggyford in 2018 - giving a run of almost five miles, and their operations were hit very hard by financial disruption during the covid pandemic. The "Crossing Cafe" aka "Hickins" at Alston is very dog-friendly, with the ambiance & food being excellent [2023, we go there quite often !].
