{OK} BBH - BlueBird

These few images are in homage to Donald Campbell, for his attempts on land and water world speed records. He was killed at Coniston Water on 4th January 1967, during an attempt on the World Water Speed Record.

Bluebird K-7 is currently under restoration to working order, and will be displayed at the Ruskin Museum in Coniston.
A small amount of timber work will be required, and most of the items are now - late 2016 / early 2017- in Haltwhistle, and receiving some attention.

The original "Orpheus" engine has been conserved, and is already on display at the Ruskin Museum.

Already on display is the lovingly restored prototype Jetstar, as devised and used by Donald Campbell and his team. The boat was intended to be a fast runabout, using a water jet as opposed to a conventional propeller, as a means of increasing safety.
After Donald Campbell's death, Leo Villa and the Norris Brothers continued with developments. Eventually, some hundred? were produced - with a fibreglass hull - by "Bluebird Marine" in the 1970s.

Around the middle of May 2012 some information was brought to my attention, which I want to share.
All three of Malcolm Campbell's yachts, were all named "BlueBird", and all three went to Dunkirk during "Operation Dynamo" and survived. Two of the three will be taking part in the Jubilee Pageant on the River Thames.
