CoLC - A&E waiting times

Meeting the "4hrs" target seems to out of reach at the moment. But the solution is very complex.
I suspect the main drop was related to Covid-19 & the consequences of the Pandemic, such as "long covid". The "throughput" is probably not really recovering due to "bed-blocking" [where a bed is unavailable due to being unable to safely discharge the current occupant - often an elderly person that lives alone] and many minor injuries etc that ought to be dealt with by primary care ie GP/pharmacy [try getting a GP appointment !]
Also many "First Aiders" out of an abundance of caution will suggest to a casualty that visiting A&E would be a sensible precaution [I know I do give this advice when the local pharmacy / GP are inaccessible] ...

Mind you, closing A&E / minor injury units - even just overnight to save money - is not the solution !
