Fairly recent addition to the collection, arriving in 2020.
Two Mamba turbo prop engines, driving contra-rotating propellers, gave a max speed of 316 mph.
First flew in 1949, originally designed for the Royal Navy as an anti-submarine aircraft.
XA459 [394] started in the anti-submarine role in 1957, damaged the following year it was stored until 1961, when it was regraded to ECM6 [electronic counter measures]. Served in this role with 831 NAS at Culdrose until 1966. Used for ground training until it was sold off to a museum in 1978 and stored outside, which led to it being in need of restoration !
