They do manage to make incredible patterns in the sky. They haven't started down here yet - as I can see them when they start to begin this pattern.

Ron, it is known as a murmuration in the States too. It only happens in Autumn when thousands of the birds whirl in the air. You can see utube videos of them :)

Many of these venereal terms trace back to the middle ages and were used especially in hunting, though I don't know if that's the case with this one.
