Yes it is indeed a beautiful view, you can see the green moss on the sand bank closest to the ruins. Is that a river mouth or the beginnings of a bay?

This is the estuary of the River Dee.. the Wirral peninsula is on the other bank. You can see Parkgate on the Wirral, the white buildings in the background.
